Consulting Arborist for St George and Southern Sydney

From the Botany Bay foreshore to the waterfronts of Port Hacking, Southern Sydney combines sandy coastal flats, sandstone ridges and bushland edges, each with its own tree challenges. Synertree provides independent arborist reports, Arboricultural Impact Assessments (AIAs) and project arborist services across St George and the southern suburbs. Arborist reports and AIAs start from $880 + GST (AIAs for one tree), with fixed quotations within 24 hours.

Arborist reports from $880 + GST · AIAs from $880 + GST for one tree · Fixed quotations within 24 hours · All reports are completed by an AQF Level 5 or AQF Level 8 Arborist

What's included in an AIA from $880 + GST (one tree): a basic development proposal. We supply our captured tree data to your architect and landscape architect, and their plans show the tree retention and removal plan. ArborCAD Tree Protection Plans aren't included. ArborCAD Tree Protection Plans and larger or complex sites are quoted separately on your plans, with a fixed quotation within 24 hours.

Tree issues we see in Southern Sydney

Waterfront and foreshore blocks. Bays, rivers and Port Hacking are lined with steep waterfront properties where trees hold the slope and soften the view from the water. Boatsheds, pools, decks and inclinators are often built within Tree Protection Zones. Our AIAs assess the impact to AS 4970:2025 and recommend construction methods that keep both the tree and the bank stable.

Sandy coastal soils. Around Botany Bay and the Cronulla peninsula, deep sands allow roots to spread a long way. Sandy soils also collapse easily during excavation. Non-destructive AirSpade investigation and LiDAR 3D root mapping show where the significant roots are, so footings can be designed around them.

Sandstone ridges. Inland, many suburbs sit on sandstone ridges with shallow soils and exposed rock. Sydney Red Gums (Angophora), Scribbly Gums and Bloodwoods often root into rock joints. That makes excavation impacts hard to predict from a desktop calculation alone. We assess the real site conditions.

Coastal favourites. Norfolk Island pines, Port Jackson figs, Bangalay and coastal banksias are common along the beaches and bays. Large, old specimens can be significant in the streetscape. Our reports set out their condition, value and protection needs.

Bushland edges. Homes backing onto national park and bushland reserves live alongside big trees and bushfire considerations. QTRA and ISA TRAQ tree risk assessments give you an objective view of which trees need attention and which are best left alone.

Dual occupancies and knock-down rebuilds. Older homes on large blocks are being replaced by dual occupancies and larger homes, which usually brings construction closer to existing trees and street trees. A Pre-AIA at concept stage can save a redesign.

Southern Sydney FAQ

Q: Do you work in the Bayside, Georges River and Sutherland Shire council areas?

A: Yes, plus the Kingsgrove and Beverly Hills fringe of the City of Canterbury Bankstown. Reports are prepared to suit each council's DA tree requirements.

Q: I'm building a pool or deck on a waterfront block. Do I need an arborist?

A: If the works come within the Tree Protection Zone of a protected tree, council will usually require an AIA. On waterfront slopes, trees often matter for bank stability too, so it's worth getting advice early.

Q: Can you design around roots in sandy soil?

A: Yes. AirSpade root investigation and LiDAR 3D root mapping show where the roots are, so footings can avoid them.

Q: Is my Norfolk Island pine or fig safe?

A: A QTRA or ISA TRAQ risk assessment will tell you. Because we never do tree work, the advice is independent.

Q: How much does an arborist report cost in Southern Sydney?

A: Arborist reports start from $880 + GST for 1–5 trees. AIAs start from $880 + GST for one tree on a basic development proposal. ArborCAD Tree Protection Plans and larger or complex sites are quoted separately on your plans, with a fixed quotation within 24 hours.
